REGULATIONS24th Edition – Northern Hemisphere | February 18-24, 2026
Sol d’Oro – Northern Hemisphere is the most prestigious international competition dedicated to the excellence of extra virgin olive oil.
Every year in Verona, the world’s finest extra virgin olive oils compete in a rigorous blind tasting to earn the coveted award that celebrates true quality.
Now on its 24th edition, the competition has become a global benchmark—a showcase of excellence where experts, producers, and enthusiasts come together to discover, enhance, and promote the authenticity of extra virgin olive oil.
The history of Sol d’Oro dates back to the early 1990s, with the Leone d’Oro, the event that laid the foundations for a competition that today welcomes the finest extra virgin olive oils from the Mediterranean, the United States, China, Japan, and the Southern Hemisphere.
Every February, Sol d’Oro Northern Hemisphere takes place in Verona as a preview of SOL Expo, the international exhibition dedicated to extra virgin olive oil and agri-food excellence. Sol d’Oro Southern Hemisphere, instead, is hosted each year in a producing country of the southern half of the world, celebrating the production of the other side of the globe.
Our competition is built on three core values:
Promoting the culture of extra virgin olive oil – we support quality and reward those who produce with dedication and expertise, encouraging ever higher standards and a more informed, conscious perspective on the sector.
Recognizing and uniting production from both hemispheres – through editions dedicated to the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, we embrace the variety, seasonality, and richness of global production, highlighting the diversity of different territories.
Educating about olive oil culture – our commitment is to raise awareness and promote deeper knowledge of extra virgin olive oil, so that this unique product can find an ever-growing place on tables around the world.
