REGULATIONSSol d’Oro Northern Hemisphere is the most authoritative international olive oil event in the field of blind tasting, held annually in Verona to recognize and celebrate the finest extra virgin olive oils.
Since its founding in 2002, the competition has established itself as a showcase of excellence, bringing together producers, experts, and enthusiasts from around the world to share, discover, and promote authentic quality.
Every year in February, Verona becomes the capital of extra virgin olive oil, welcoming the finest producers from the Mediterranean and other international producing regions. The competition takes place ahead of SOL Expo – Full Olive Experience, an event entirely dedicated to the extra virgin olive oil supply chain and high-quality agri-food products.
Award Categories: The oils are divided into categories, evaluated, and awarded by an international jury.
Blind Tasting Process: To ensure maximum impartiality, each tasting is conducted as a blind tasting in isolated booths.
The Sol d’Oro product categories for the Northern Hemisphere highlight the olive oil traditions of European and Mediterranean countries, taking into account their territorial and production-specific characteristics. Oils are classified into the categories Extra Virgin, Organic, Monovarietal, and PDO, including Protected Designations of Origin officially recognized by the European Union
